Gordy Little lived a life dedicated to the people and places of the Adirondacks. The well known radio and television personality authored this children's book to celebrate our local legend, Champ, and our beloved bridge.
I'll be honest, I'm surprised at the response we have had with this book at local events. We try to pick out swell stuff for Home of Champ, but I wasn't loving this one when it came in.
The kids have proven me wrong. They love it. There is something about the story that they respond to.
This book addresses children's anxieties about going to school for the first time and teaches children to overcome obstacles through perseverance and with the encouragement of adults.
OK, I get it now- what's not to love? You'll root for little Champy too, as he tries and tries, but just can't get the knack of swimming like all great sea serpents do. Will he fail at lake monster school?
This hardcover book is illustrated by Les Bradford.
